Still a few delicious alpha struggles to report between Superintendent Yvonne Rippon (Rachel Shelley) and clinical lead Nick Jordan (Michael French) in Casualty “Saturday Night Fever” (26×29), but this time around some other form of serious flirting took center stage:

The ED staff struggle to deal with an unruly patient, causing Nick to be late for an impromptu dinner date with Yvonne. Shortly after he does finally make it to the restaurant where Yvonne is waiting, she is called to her police station to deal with a recently detained suspect with medical complications who turns out to be the complicated patient Nick treated earlier. While all kinds of police vs. hospital negligence blame games ensue, several hints at Nick’s past relationship with another member of the staff, Dr. Zoe Hanna, bring some [interesting yet thus far mild] tension into the mix, but by the end of the episode Nick and Yvonne finally get a chance to finish that date.

OK, so it could be argued that our two lovebirds are switching from defending their respective turfs with considerable alphaness to being all sweet and flirty and vice versa a bit too rapidly (even considering the different roles they take on in the “work” and the “dating” setting), but most of the time I was simply too distracted to care much because Nick/Yvonne’s flirting endeavors are just so cute:

So yes, even though one of the people in this pairing may or may not come with a tad too much testosterone for my liking, I do very much appreciate the cuteness and/or alphaness that is Nick/Yvonne.
