Good news via the BBC Media Centre: Rachel Shelley will play police chief DCI Rippon on BBC One’s medical drama Casualty in the episode “Death and Doughnuts”, scheduled to air Jan. 14, 2012, at 8:40pm.

Here’s what they reveal about the storyline for her character:

[CT surgeon] Jordan’s cool is uncharacteristically ruffled when he meets attractive young police chief DCI Rippon. Could there be romance in the air for Holby’s head honcho?

Rachel Shelley*, Alexandra Hedison*, Pam Grier and Janina Gavankar have been announced on the Starfury Twitter account as the first guests of their L10 convention, taking place August 17-19, 2012, in Birmingham, UK.** Check the Starfury: L10 website for more info and tickets.

September 2011:

Rachel will be appearing in episodes 5 and 6 of Strike Back (Project Dawn), airing Sept. 16 and Sept. 23 at 10pm respectively on Cinemax in the US. (UK and Canada air dates can be found on the Sky1 and HBO Canada websites.)

June 2011:

Rachel Shelley has told RachelShelleyOnline that she will be playing a war journalist in the HBO/Sky series Strike Back.

According to Deadline, Strike Back will be a new version of the 2010 Sky original series by the same name:

[This] version will have new settings/storylines and will introduce new characters, led by Damien Scott (Animal Kingdom’s Sullivan Stapleton), a charismatic former U.S. Special Forces operative who teams up with a British military unit led by Section 20 officer Michael Stone bridge (Fringe’s Philip Winchester) to stop an international terrorist group.

Strike Back (2: Project Dawn) is scheduled to premiere August 12, 2011, at 10pm on HBO owned Cinemax in the US as well as HBO Canada and August 21, 2011, on Sky1 in the UK.
